Globe Valves

Structure and characteristics of globe valves:

  • Body Structure: Globe valves typically feature a spherical or pear-shaped body through which the fluid flow path changes direction indirectly.

How it works:

Globe valves shut off or regulate fluid flow through the movement of a disc against its seat. As the disc approaches the seat, the flow is restricted or cut off, and as it moves away, the flow is released. Due to their complex flow path, these valves are highly capable of precise flow regulation.

Types of globe valves:

  • Standard globe valve: For flow control in industrial systems.
  • Special-design globe valve: For specialized applications, such as high-temperature and high-pressure conditions or specific fluids.

Advantages:

  • Ease of maintenance: They feature a simpler design compared to some other types of valves.

Disadvantages:

  • Significant pressure drop: Due to the complex flow path within the valve, a substantial pressure drop may occur in the system.

  • Requirement for extensive movement to regulate flow: In some models, significant movement of the disc is required to precisely regulate the flow.

Applications:

  • Petrochemical and chemical sectors: In systems requiring precise pressure and temperature control.
